Aircheck Annex: Radio Boise Aircheck archive

I began programming a show for the Boise Community Radio Project in July of 2006, soon after my relocation to Idaho, when the station was webcasting while waiting for the FCC to finally grant them a slot on the FM dial.

I was there until March of 2008, about the time I left Idaho.

It was a foot in the door at what will become Boise's first true community radio station.

- - And the switch to webcasting began my personal learning curve towards an understanding of where radio is headed.

Some "Helpful" Notes

1. My shows at KALX were a live, seat-of-the-pants, non-definitive radio experience.
(The most fun one can have with their pants on and shoes off!)

KALX airchecks were almost always recorded on standard cassette tapes, (remember those?) and any questionable sound quality, annoying warble or jarring pitch change reflects this.

For simplicity, KALX material archived here is most often divided into parts that correspond to different sides of the cassettes - - hence the abrupt endings in mid-recording.

DISCLAIMER: My KALX airchecks are generally unedited, or at least minimally so. DISREGARD ANY AND ALL of the often-mentioned and clearly now out-of-date promotional messages, offers, phone numbers, ticket giveaways, etc.
You understand, yes? Good.

2. As of this writing, webcasts at Radio Boise were a pre-recorded experience, assembled like an old-fashioned mixtape via iTunes, with generic pre-recorded announcements peppered throughout.

Radio Boise airchecks may or may not have extraneous 'business' nonsense edited out. As of this writing, we'll just see how it goes.

Though a less likely occurence, my above DISCLAIMER stands for the Radio Boise airchecks, too.

3. SPEAKING OF DISCLAIMERS:
These archived recordings are here to be of informational and simple entertainment value. There is absolutely no motive towards profit or infringement, just fun.

Having said that, please contact me if you encounter any problematic material and I will remove it. Thank you.

4. Likewise, please let me know if you experience difficulty in listening to the streaming audio.

As with any file that's being difficult, a good rule of thumb is to pause it for a bit to let it load sufficiently before playing.
That, and to curse loudly.
